We are delighted to invite you to participate in the Gita Shloka Recital Contest, a celebration of the timeless wisdom of the Bhagavad Gita. This event is an opportunity to immerse yourself in the sacred verses, showcase your recitation skills, and connect with fellow seekers of spiritual knowledge.

🕒 Time: 2 PM – 7 PM
📍 Venue: 2501 Oakspring Rd, Stallings, NC 28104
🎤 Eligibility: 6-25 years Age Groups
📜 Recitation Language: Sanskrit
Following the successful launch of our Gita Shloka Contest and the valuable feedback received from many of you, we are pleased to announce a format designed to include a broader range of age groups and enhance participation.
📘 Age Groups & Syllabus
We will now have four age categories, each with a tailored syllabus from Chapter 7 of the Bhagavad-gītā As It Is.
Age Group
Syllabus
Group 1 (6–10 yrs)
Verses 7.1 to 7.10 with translations
Group 2 (11–14 yrs)
Verses 7.15 to 7.30 with translations
Group 3 (15–18 yrs)
Verses 7.14 to 7.25 with translations and purports
Group 4 (19–25 yrs)
Entire Chapter 7 – verses, translations, and purports
NOTE: Translations are recommended only from the Bhagavad-gītā As It Is, written by His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupāda, Founder-Ācārya of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness
Format of the Shloka Competition
🎤 Competition Format
- Group 1: Recite 3 verses with translations, selected by judges
- Group 2: Recite 3 verses with translations, selected by judges
- Group 3: Recite 3 verses with translations (judges’ choice) + 1 verse of participant’s choice with explanations; followed by Q&A
- Group 4: Deliver a 3-minute summary presentation of Chapter 7, followed by Q&A with judges
📣 Gita Shloka Contest – Event Guidelines & Participation Details
Dear Devotees,
we are pleased to share the following important details regarding the event day proceedings and participant expectations.
📝 Selection Process & Pre-Qualification Round
- The organizing team will determine the number of participants advancing to the final round. Approximately 30–40 participants per age group will be selected.
- A pre-qualification round will be conducted on the day of the event at the same venue.
- The format for the pre-qualification round will be announced at the venue prior to commencement.
🎁 Participation Recognition & Awards
- All participants will receive a Certificate of Participation on behalf of ISKCON of Charlotte, along with special gifts.
- Exciting prizes will be awarded to finalists and winners.
- Winners will be selected by the judges’ independent discretion, and their decisions will be final and binding.
⏰ Event Day Instructions
- Participants must arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the event start time and report to the Welcome Desk upon arrival.
- Strict silence is to be maintained during performances. No prompting, signaling, or assistance from parents, teachers, or audience members is permitted.
- Any form of external help during a participant’s performance will result in immediate disqualification.
❓ Tie-Breaker Protocol
- In the event of a tie, the final decision will be made based on a Q&A session conducted by the judges.
